Rural Medical Education: A Review of the Literature is the first component of a research study titled "Strengthening the Medical Workforce in Rural Canada: The Role of Rural/Northern Medical Education." Cette étude a été fondé par les Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada (IRSC).

 

L'étude a été menée conjointement par des chercheurs au Centre de recherche en santé dans les milieux ruraux et du nord (Université Laurentienne), le Centre for Applied Health Research (Université Memorial de Terre-Neuve), et l'École de médecine du Nord de l'Ontario. Les chercheurs de cette étude étaient: Raymond W. Pong, Stephen Bornstein, Vernon Curran, Michael Jong, Geoffrey Tesson et Roger Strasser. Autres individues importants de l'équipe de recherche incluent: Lisa Fleet, John Hogenbirk et Fanmei Wang.

En 2002, les programmes en sciences infirmières du Conseil des universités de l'Ontario (COUPN) began a nurse practitioner continuing education pilot program. Le Centre de recherche en santé dans les milieux ruraux et du nord (CReSRN), Université Laurentienne, was commissioned by COUPN to evaluate the pilot program.

 

"Evaluating Continuing Education for Rural Nurse Practitioners: Literature Review and Annotated Summary" fait partie du rapport d'évaluation final An Evaluation of the Rural and Northern Ontario Nurse Practitioner Continuing Education Project, par K. Tilleczek, L. Liboiron-Grenier et R.W. Pong.

 

"Evaluating Continuing Education for Rural Nurse Practitioners: Literature Review and Annotated Summary" summarizes Canadian and international studies that examine the learning needs of nurse practitioners and the outcomes of continuing education programs.
